Terms of use
· Applies to loamnotes.com and every page on it
These terms govern your use of Rate Shock. Using the site means accepting them. They are short, because the service is free, requires no account, and collects nothing from you that would need a longer contract.
1. Who you are contracting with
Rate Shock is published by Rate Shock, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Contact details are on the contact page. Privacy is dealt with separately in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
2. What the service is
A free calculator that models the cost of a home loan over its whole term, together with written guides explaining how those loans are structured in Vietnam. It is provided for general information and for your own private use.
It is not a financial, investment, tax or legal advisory service, it is not a credit broker, it does not introduce you to any lender, and it does not receive any commission from one. The limits of what it can tell you are set out in the financial disclaimer, which you should read before relying on any figure it produces.
3. Licence to use the site
You may use the site freely for your own purposes, including in the course of your work, and you may share links to it. You may quote from it with attribution and a link.
You may not:
- republish substantial parts of the written guides as your own, or use them to train a model marketed as a substitute for this service;
- scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, or circumvent rate limiting on the contact form;
- attempt to interfere with the site’s operation, probe it for vulnerabilities without telling us first, or use it to distribute anything unlawful;
- frame the site, or place your own advertising or overlays on it, or modify how it appears to other people;
- present output from the calculator as personalised financial advice, whether yours or ours.
If you find a security problem, please report it to support@regulad.com before disclosing it publicly. We will not pursue anyone who does so in good faith.
4. The source code
The application’s source code is released under the MIT licence. You may reuse it, modify it, and deploy your own version, including commercially, subject to that licence’s terms. The MIT licence covers the code. It does not cover the written guides, the wording of these pages, or the name Rate Shock, all of which remain ours.
5. Accuracy, and its limits
The arithmetic is published in full on the methodology page and is covered by automated tests checked against hand calculations. We correct errors promptly when they are reported, and how we do that is described in the editorial policy.
That said, the site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. Every output depends entirely on the figures you enter and on the assumptions documented on the methodology page. The terms of your own credit agreement always prevail over anything shown here.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site. That includes loss of profit, loss of opportunity, and any loss arising from a financial decision made on the basis of an output from the calculator, whether or not we were told such loss was possible.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
7. Advertising and third-party links
The site carries advertising, which is labelled and is described in the advertising disclosure. Advertisements are selected by Google Ad Manager and are not endorsements. We do not control what is advertised, we have no relationship with the advertisers, and we cannot vouch for their products, including any financial product. Links to other sites within our own writing are given for reference and carry no endorsement either.
If you see an advertisement here that appears to be fraudulent, misleading about a financial product, or otherwise in breach of Google’s policies, please tell us through the contact page so we can block it.
8. Availability and changes
We make no commitment that the site will be available at any particular time. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we may amend these terms. Material amendments will be marked by the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the amended terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country.
